Coming soon to NSBKB: USS Alaska

Of course, none of those 1,000 sailors will have school age children. http://www.jacksonville.com/news/georgia/2009-03-26/story/trident_submarine_moving_to_kings_bay_base

  1. There won't be 1000 sailors. 1000 is the estimated number of sailors and family members.

  2. Upon closer reading, I stand corrected.

  3. Actually, we had three subs leave and go to Washington. Since then we have had two more come in, and the USS Alaska will be the third. This shouldn't have been a suprise to anyone, as the plan had been announced years ago.
3 left, 3 new ones came in.

  4. Five of 10 boats left for the west coast between 2002 and 2005. Georgia and Florida arrived here from the west coast after being converted to conventional weapons and Alaska arrives soon. Tennessee has departed for Norfolk and refueling leaving Kings Bay with seven boats total.
Really - no net gain or loss in the amount of people.

Please keep it clean and reasonably civil. "Public figures" are fair game, consistent with the "actual malice" exception. I suggest you Google both terms before you go off half-cocked.
