References needed.

I need one more piece of furniture for my living room. I plan on buying a good used sofa and having it re-covered in some fabric I've found on the Internet. On page 321 of the Yellow Pages in the new phone book, I note that there are three upholsterers in the county. I would appreciate some input on any personal experiences readers have had with any - and preferably all - of the three. Thank you.

  1. Hey Mr. Perfect English, the word is re-covered with a hyphen.

  2. Thanks for catching that. You're absolutely correct. I've now changed it.

  3. I don't know the name, but they are located in Saturday Park. They did work for a dear friend and I saw the finished product. Very good job and reasonable in price.

  4. Thank you. That one is called "Sofa Doctor."

  5. Check with the Southern Charmer. I think the Sofa Dr does their work when needed. I believe it is he (Sofa Dr) they gave me as a reference to fix a very old recliner I bought from Southern Charmer.

  6. Jay, if you want to keep it local, there used to be a shop down on the waterfront in St. Marys. Turn left off of Osbourne St and a couple of doors in. Not sure if they are still there or not. They do/did good work. Not sure about their prices though, it's been a while.

Please keep it clean and reasonably civil. "Public figures" are fair game, consistent with the "actual malice" exception. I suggest you Google both terms before you go off half-cocked.
