Stephen Hawking suugests that maybe we should be hiding from aliens rahter than seeking contact.
While Hawking has always advocated unlimited exploration, he is also a pragmatist when it comes to his observations of life forms and their aggressive/opportunistic nature. “We only have to look at ourselves to see how intelligent life might develop into something we wouldn’t want to meet."
I recently re-read Brian Greene's superb book "The Elegant Universe" - an exploration of super-strings and M-theory. You might enjoy Nova's presentation: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/elegant/program.html
Please keep it clean and reasonably civil. "Public figures" are fair game, consistent with the "actual malice" exception. I suggest you Google both terms before you go off half-cocked.
