The truth about the county employee health plan versus the Kingfish take on it.
As you can see from the figures, even the proposed new premiums for Camden County employees are a real bargain. $161.28 per month for full familiy coverage is about 25 to 30 % of what a comparable plan in the private sector costs today. And yet, here is Kingfish Feller's take on this modest increase.

it is a great county. no wage increase for staff (not administrators) however, following the obama, jm and mgrs philosophy give the workers a 100,000.00 pay cut. this way they are contributing to the community by paying more for their health insurance. is it important for the lowest paid workers to sacrifice? obama and jm would say so.
Voters of District 4: Aren't you glad that this paranoid, hateful, vindictive, shamelessly pandering, dottering old fool will not still have a vote on the budget tomorrow night? Let's make sure that he never does again! That's the last you will hear of the old nut on this blog.
How St. Marys "tap fees" are actually calculated.

As you can see from the instructions above, St. Marys actually calls their fees for hooking up to city water and sewer "aid-to-construction" fees, but they are commonly referred to as tap fees. Let's cut to the chase and go directly to how the tap fee for the new Catholic church was calculated. First, you need to know that the city's "estimated construction cost per gallon" (see definition above) for 2009 is $11.70 per gallon. Now, find "Church" in Table 98-57.1, above. You will see that for a church, the estimated "Water Usage In Gallons Per Day" is 3 gallons per day per seat. The church will seat 672 when finished. Therefor, the calculation is: 3 gallons per seat per day X 672 seats X $11.70 per gallon = a tap fee of $23,587.20. Note also that the rate for an "assembly hall" (the Fraternal Order of Eagles comes to mind) is the same exact 3 gallons per seat per day. Are they picking on churches, as Kingfish Feller, Man-of-the-People, suggests in a transparent effort to secure the votes of his fellow parishioners at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church for whatever he'll run for next? Well, go to the aforementioned table and look at all of the other types of structures which are rated on a "per seat" basis. Under cafeteria (think Aunt B's) for instance, the fee is based on 35 gallons per day per seat. In point of fact, of all structures based on the number of seats, churches are at the very LOWEST rate. While all of Kingfish' empathetic bleatings may appear well founded at first blush, upon closer inspection, they are quite often self serving malarkey and boob bait for bubbas which do not pass the sniff test upon close inspection. But, he apparently thinks there are enough gullible boobs out there to warrant keeping it up.
CCBOC to vote tomorrow evening on FY-10 budget and changes to employee health plan.
Here's the link to the agenda:

Here's the link to the proposed changes to the employee health plan. I, for one, will be interested to see if all commissioners were able to maintain sufficient political courage over the last two weeks to vote these needed changes in.

Here's the link to the latest iteration of the proposed FY-10 budget. This may take 4 or 5 minutes to download. Note the entry under "contingency fund." The cupboard is bare, folks. Thank you, Terrible Troika.

Wrong again, Kingfish! Am I going too fast for you?

Hes gonna force in a county police dept to ye heard?? (Feller writing now)there are only two people who opt for police consolidation, first com. berry and second his protege jm. this matter has beed discussed by st marys in great detail, they even spent 14,000.00 for a consultant. u of ga? they came to the same conclusion. there is no money to be saved by consolidation of police forces and the sheriff's dept. i might add, kingsland said "no dice" in no uncertain terms. methinks jm is running out of things to say and links to post.
Kingfish, the people rejected merging with a CCSO run by your close personal friend (apparently) Bill "Big Thug Willie" Smith. The possible future consolidation I'm talking about would be with a Camden County Police Department, with a chief answerable to the CCBOC, not the governor. That there would be savings available from elimination of a top heavy command structure is self evident. The prior rejection had everything to do with an inherent distrust of Bill Smith and a misplaced since of "civic pride" on the part of some citizens of the cities who had not really thought it through and were not then faced with the economic downturn we are in now and will be for a while to come. Just curious: you are great at pooh poohing others' ideas, but have you ever come up with any serious ones of your own that were not immediately dismissed by the public as silly and transparently self serving? My personal favorite was the time you stood up in a St. Marys City Council meeting, and with a perfectly straight face, offered to pay the last $60,000 of the nearly $1 million dollar purchase price of the Howard Gilman Waterfront Park if the the city would simply name the park after your late father. Yeah, ol' buddy, you've really got that "vision" thing going for you. Feel free to respond here. You are, of course, not "banned" as you have claimed. If you can't figure out how to get your name on a comment, just send it with no capital letters. We will all recognize it.
