Foreign car manufacturers continue to build plants in the south.
http://abcnews.go.com/Video/playerIndex?id=7550065
We are located 40 miles north and south of two seaports where automobile import / export makes up the lion's share of the ports' annual tonnages. We sit astride I-95 and 40 miles north of I-10. We have tens of thousands of suitable acres. We have a population of +/- 60,000 with tens of thousands more potential employees in easy commuting distance. We have plans for thousands of new homes by dozens of developers.
Can anyone think of any good reason why we would not be a good choice for such a plant - if only we had an aggressive JDA?

If the JDA were to aggressive that would lead to good jobs moving to camden county. If good job's moved to camden county, that would lead to more people moving to the county. Maybe some of those people would run for political office. (I.E.) county commission. If that happened the good ol boy's would lose power. We all know that can't happen. Keep the good ol boy's in power as long as possible. The hell with growth and the creation of job's. The political atmosphere in woodbine is supress growth for as lond as possible. Unless of course it is to the benefit os someone on the commission or one's own self worth.
Well said. The old "dog in the manger" phenomenon
SAD BUT TRUE!!!
They have no intentions of doing the right thing. I can't wait to hear who they select as the new JDA Director. How will he justify not bringing employment (such as mention) to Camden County. That's normally the hardest task of anyone holding that title.
Anonymous you are so right on the JDA. They have never brought anything into this County since I have been here, 27 years. The Commissioners have never cared about progress in this County. Its so obvious to those who pay close attention. They don't worry about creating new revenues. If they don't have enough money to do what they want to do they just add another splost and raise our property taxes. Well, I think those wells are about to dry up. They have adopted and adopted and adopted ordinances, yet they never allow their employee's to enforce those ordinances. Lost revenues!!
Just one example. These things will never change unless we get all new Commissioners who are more interested in running this County as it should be run, rather than worry about who's interest might be hurt or not doing anything to make a voter mad. The Good Ole Boy system has run this County from day one and until that is stopped, it will never change for the better.
Agreed. Very well stated.
