The purpose of this blog is to provide the author, Jay Moreno, with an outlet to comment upon items of socio-political and socio-economic import in Camden County, Georgia and to generally satisfy a daily compulsion to write.
HISTORIC WATERFRONT, ST. MARYS, GA.
i vote to let mother nature take care of it herself. plus it will keep all the snow birds from busting our shorelines out. we(fishermen)can not see why they dont run off shore then pull into a marina at night or if they need something. there is no marina on the intercoastal in camden county.
The ICW could be a major economic boom for the cities of Camden if it was marketed the correcet way. Look at the monies that Florida uses for maintenence of the ICW and the taxes generated from it. It is huge. Until we get some forward thinkers that are willing to have a first class stop over for these folks, we will not lure them in. Look at the Thanksgiving day turnout. This is just by word of mouth. Langs will never be waht it could because they are to cheap and shortsighted to see the monies that could be made by having a decent marina. We need the ICW to be open and maintained.
The inland water way is like a highway that has been neglected. It needs to be maintained. It will produce commerce. Look at the developements that have sprung up all along the water way. It would be a positive move in the right direction, for once. I fish as much as any one in this county, was born on the coast and never had any one complain about the water way.
Yeah, when I was a kid in Savannah, my grandparents always had a place on Turner's Creek at Talahi Island. I was not aware that the ICW was a threat to local fishing.
App[arently, some native Camdenians loathe (loathing born of envy) us damned outsiders so much they can't even stand the thought of some of us just passing through in the ICW. It must really kill them this time of year to look up into the cold winter sky and see the contrails of all of those jetliners full of damned outsiders violating Camden airspace - and well out of shotgun range.

I agree wholeheartedly.
