Today's letter-to-the-editor in the Tribune and Georgian
Obama has
broken many
promises
Dear Editor,
Now that President
Obama has been in office for
over one year, how do you
like his changes?
When President Obama
was elected, the senior citizens
overwhelmingly supported
him. Fifteen months
later Medicare has been cut
by $500 billion.
When President Obama
was elected the Jews overwhelming
supported him.Fifteen months later, he
has thrown Israel under the
bus in favor of a soft hand on
the Iran issue.
When President Obama
was he elected he promised
the youth open government
and an end to business as
usual. Fifteen months later
the lobbyists are still in business,
the Democratic Party
does its business behind
closed doors and the concept
of bipartisan government is
dead.
Well, how do you like
these changes? Is this what
you bought into? What are
you going to do about it?
Are you sick and tired of
being pushed around? Are
you sick and tired of being
ignored? Let me know.

That Feller feller is a little behind the times.
Medicare spending has not been cut. HMOs and insurance companies will no longer get a subsidy for doing nothing. The partial privatization of Medicare has been declared a failure, even though insurance companies got rich.
China has been persuaded to take a tough line with Iran to address their nuclear ambitions.
Lobbying is a legal enterprise. Putting people out of business is not on the Democratic agenda. Also, a political party is a private organization, like the Augusta Country Club, and has no duty to be open to the public like a public corporation (town, county, state, etc.)
Government is responsible to the people. It cannot favor parties which, as stated above, are private entities.
In a functioning democracy the people govern. If the people they hire do not perform as expected, they fire them.
Since, on the national level, the executive's primary functions are to conduct foreign relations and see that the agenda set by Congress is competently carried out, it is probably too soon to assess the current administration in Washington.
The status of Camden County is for someone who lives there to evaluate.
