Woodbine whiners grasping at ludicrous straws in futile fight to block jail expansion.

My guess is that there is some mayoral race posturing / vote trolling going on here.

Reminds me of the 3 stooges.
Note:I accidentally deleted this one from my comment moderation screen. What you see above is a copy/paste job from my personal e-maillaccountwhere I'm always copied on comments to the blog.

First off can't believe Higginbotham pulled "the black card". What a joke! Don'tcha think that would of been an issue way back in the day when the county built the original courthouse. The old timers BACK THEN would of been aware of any cementary present in the area, there were many opposed to it being relocated to Woodbine. Man must have a lot of time on his hands to have come up with that one. Looking at the big picture the board did what was best for the taxpayers period. Not what would be ideal but when there is no money, you work with what you have. The Councilmen of Woodbine need to take a drive to Charleston or Harriett's Bluff and lay down with the man that could of prevented this, they're sure to pick up flees. I'm sure Councilman Henning could locate his Uncle Bill.
Ditto on this one. I accidentally deleted it when I was deleting onethat the commenter asked me not to publish. By the way, for that commenter, unless youchoose toidentify yourself, I have no idea who you are. This blog does not trace ISPs.
Speaking of Councilman Henning,I saw him "perform" at the CCBOC meeting Tuesday night. He told the commissioners that if they voited for the jail addition, they would be "thumbing (their) noses at the citizens of Woodbine." He especially singled out Chip Keene. That bounced off of Keene like a BB off of a battleship. Chip promptly set the arrogant ass straight and let him know that over 70% of his coinstituents live outside of Woodbine. Is this the same BTW nephew rumored to be running against Gregory in 2012?
Haven't heard the rumor other than Topix. Most everything on there is complete BS. That is BTW nephew you saw Tuesday night. You are 100% right about arrogant ass. The people of Woodbine are screwed with the "3 Stooges".
Dear Mr. Mereno: Your "ditto on this one...." Not too long ago you had no suggestions to offer on the Woodbine vs jail morass since you were not familiar with the situation. The stream of comments on related posts are a bit unclear. Were you quoting others or commenting on the situation? The Woodbine/Camden County/local residents vs jail is not a new situation that is led by a bunch of malcontents within the confines of Woodbine. Nearly threes ago citizens from within the city and beyond came from far and near to the field of Camden politics to offer a rebute to decisions and actions made within the dark of night as related to actions to build a new jail. Eventually, the plan to build a new facility was laid to rest. The decision by the CCBOC at that time was to commit funds to improve the current jail, rather than expand or build a new jail. Were actions: Legal? In writing? Agreement that is legally binding? Who knows? Irrespective of all above, why does the county mire itself in deep weeds whilst the world moves by Camden County at the speed of light? Can't we be people (politicians/elected officials/those designated to serve the people) who have integrity, honor, and commitment to serve those who place us into positions of honor and power? And elect those who are committed to the benefit on the county as a whole rather than special interests and political or familial niches that will guide our county of great potential into oblivion!
Firstly, my name is spelled Moreno.
If you were playing on Merino sheep, you misspelled that one as well.
Now,let me clarify it for you. When I go tomy "comment moderation screen" I have to check a box next to comments I want to post or delete. A commenter had asked me to not post a previous comment if he was identified in any way for fear of retaliation from BTW. Moreover, he/she asked that I not publish that request as well. It was erarly. I was stillhalfasleep. When I hit delete forthat omne,I forgot that I had already checked two more - the two you purport to be confused about - with the intent to publish them. However, they were accidentally delted as well. Fortunately, this blog automatically -e-mails all comments to my personal e-mail account. Ergo, I was abletocopy from the e-mail and post as a comment. All of my commensts have the header "Jay Moreno siad...". That is why I wrote the explanation which you profess not to comprehend.
At the time I said I had insufficient information to express an informed opinion on the need for a jail addition, I didn't. Now,thanks to the media reports on the conditions and the excellent study done by county staff (NOT by the sheriff), I do. The decison taken was clearly the best option at this time.
I'm notquite sure what youwere going forwhen you tyoed "rebute." Wereyou going for "rebutt" or "rebuke?"
I certainly agree with your description of the ideal elected officials. May I remind you that, as I've pointed out before, I have absolutley no relatives in Camden and few close friends. Neither nepotism nor cronyism would be a problem were I to be elected.
I stand by my suspicion that much of the caterwalling coming out of Woodbine City Hall is all about the upcoming mayoral race.
There is only one person running for Mayor. Her name is Pat Kelly and she owns Kellys Towing.
So far. Has qualifying even opened yet?
Trust me Jay, in this little town we all know who is doing what when. There are no suprises, even with the Mayor. He has been telling anyone that would listen that he was quitting for months. Our last 3 elections there has been no one opposing anyone that runs. Thats how it is in Woodbine. Everbody bitches about city hall, but no one will step up and do anything about except write all this crap on blogs and forums. I will say that I am proud that we are the only town or county that has lowered our milage rate 2 years running. If we can get a good mayor in office that is concerned about running our town right instead of having BBQs at his ponderosa with the good ol boys then maybe we can get somewhere.
There was a outside study done 3 or so years ago I believe. There were people put on a review board who lived in all 3 cities and also a few who lived in the county only. I think all three mayors were on it too. (that may be where a promise was made to Clark by Rainer) When the study showed a need for a new jail and the board reviewed it. They too agreed not to add on but to relocate it. It was Bill Smith who told CCBC and the newspaper that there was no need for a new one and the current one was fine. I think that was when they were looking at putting it on the next SPLOST. If not for that jackass I believe the CCBC would of looked futher into relocation at that time. If someone wanted to go back and look at the minutes it was about the same time Sears started or just before.
Your memeory of the events is incorrect. Actually, the county had the money in hand and the votes on the CCBOC to add onto the existing jail by building UP, as the original jail was engineered to accommodate. Smith vetoed it because it would have wiped out his campaign warchest, also known as the shared asset account or "drug money."
I just remembered something else. I do not live in Woodbine but close enough. I did not think the jail should be where it is now. When I read in the newspaper what Bill Smith said my jaw dropped. If it had been put on SPLOST the tax payers -land/home owners- would not of felt it. As I closed my mouth I started wondering why he would say that. My theory was he did not want to be in big debate with his followers and the voters over the subject. He always avoided anything that would make him look bad.
