Local restaurateurs band together to help one of their own.

There are four more Wednesdays remaining in August (it has five this year).

So far, four restaurants (NOW SIX!) have agreed to help out fellow restaurateur Cathy Gentry, co-owner of Aunt B's, with the expenses related to her stroke back in January.

Here's how you can help. At any time during normal business hours on Wednesdays, when you tell your waitperson that you are there to help Cathy Gentry, an amount equal to 10% of your check before taxes will be donated to the fund to help Cathy.

So far, the participating restaurant's are:

Borrel Creek Landing and Cafe', 1101 Hwy 40 E.,
St. Marys (across 40 from Harvey's Supermarket);

Riverside Cafe' & Restaurant, 106 W. St. Marys St.,
St. Marys (downtown on the river next to the old Trolleys location);

Silver Star Steak House, 219 Osborne St., St. Marys (downtown in the old Sterling Grocery location);

and Shelton's Southern Smoke Barbecue, City Smitty Drive, St. Marys ( in the old Dick's Wings / Bono's Barbecue location next to Peppers).

8/8/11 Addendum: Just this afternoon, upon the owner's return from vacation, IHOP in Kingsland has enthusiastically joined in. I know where I'm having breakfast Wednesday!

8/9/11 Addendum: I am pleased to announce that effective Wednesday, August 17th, St. Marys' newest restaurant, Barberitos, a Tex/Mex franchise, will begin participating. Their opening day is Monday, August 15th. They are located just south of Aunt B's in the old The Sweetest Things location.

Many thanks to these generous proprietors.

A special thanks to the T&G for advertising the event.

Any additional Camden restaurants wishing to participate may do so by contacting the organizer, Jay Moreno, at 673-7037.

Individuals wishing to make additional direct donations may make deposits to the account set up for this fundraiser. Go to any Coastal Bank office and make your deposit to "cash" to Account # 1004148191.

Thank you for your generous support.
