Tax dollars to build a golf cart path from Osprey Cove to downtown cash registers?

http://www.jacksonville.com/tu-online/stories/072408/geo_308684320.shtml By the way, if memory serves me, is it not true that Councilman Bird owns a downtown business which sells and rents golf carts and is it not also true that Thug Void runs it?

Where is the money going to come from to do this?

Have I missed something? I checked Tommy's website and the T&G never seen a thankyou voters message from Him, I could have missed it, maybe an oversite on my part, I hope so.

I think there was one in the T&G, but I don't remember for sure.

Tommy has been all over town in the mornings wave to drivers with a sign saying Thank you. He was in St. Marys last Friday in the rain. He was in Woodbine over the weekend. I am sure he will put an ad in the paper. Look for it Friday.

You ask "Where is the money going to come from to do this?"

If you are a St. Marian, you must subscribe to the principal tenet of St. Marianism: that it is the duty of the other 99.9% of us to support, either by direct purchases, or through city taxes and hotel/motel taxes, the 1/10th of 1% of the population who depend upon ill-conceived, undercapitalized, and poorly managed downtown business for income.

You hit the nail right on the head Jay.

Stand by for the indignant DMA backlash.

What is the problem with having a golf cart path? Everyone keeps whining about the lack of support for local businesses. This would be a good solution.

No, the only ones whining are the less than 1/10th of one percent of the St. mary's population who have a personal economic stake in the viability of the moribund "downtown"
economy.

I have no problem with them building additional concrete golf cart paths, just as soon as the city calculatrs the cost, then divides that by the number of golf cart owners and dealers and issues the appropriately priced municipal decals to cover 100% of the cost.

I pay my fair share of the cost of driving my van on streets by way of gas taxes and ad valorum taxes.
Where is it writen that golf cart owners should get a tax payer subsidized pathway system, even if it does benefit the sacred cows of the DMA?
