Green Machine on the road again!
Lilliston Ford delivered my repaired, 2007, Ford E-250 van to my front door this morning.
It turned out that someone at the van modifying firm near Atlanta, in the course of installing the hydraulic wheelchair lift, installed a wrong part -or parts. Specifically, they installed the wiring harness and "lock-out module" for another model of lift made by the same company. Somehow or other, that error caused a low voltage situation in the engine's "brain." That drop caused the fuel injection system to inject "excess" fuel which ended up somehow or other going out the tailpipe unburned. That destroyed the EGR valve and the catalytic converter, both of which were replaced - along with a new brain, before the proximate culprit was diagnosed and a correct harness and module were obtained from the lift manufacturer in California and installed by Lilliston.
I had to drive straight to Brunswick immediately after it was delivered. Anecdotally, it appears that my gas mileage is better. Runs like a top. Total cost of this whole ordeal to me: ZERO!! It was all covered as warranty work, though clearly they were under no obligation to do so.
This whole diagnosis and cure began when I took my van in to Lilliston for my 5,000 mile oil change and to diagnose a "check engine" light. I had not bought the van from Lilliston, nor had I ever done business with them before.
I can't speak highly enough of the dealership-wide ambiance of courtesy and friendliness in general, and the helpfulness of service manager, Dan Nettleton, in particular.
Based upon the totality of my experience, I recommend them highly to any Ford owners and/or prospective Ford owners.
