Okay, folks, let's cut L.W. Bruce some slack.
Here is the standard response he is sending out to all e-mails of "encouragement" for him to serve Bill Smith. I have it confirmed from multiple sources, including Mr. Bruce himself, that he has done all he can do, short of a Mossad style kidnapping in Charleston. Thanks to Nella Rogers and "Bob-Bob for bringing this resposne to my attention.

Do you think Bruce honestly tried to serve Smith? His dog and pony show on Monday was BS crapola of the finest kind. Rumor has it that Bruce had the papers this weekend and Smith somehow left town before Bruce came around to doing anything on Monday. L.W. has never shown any kind of eagerness to serve BTW before.
Maybe your e-mail campaign got Bruce to do the right thing for once.
I happen to know that Bruce did not receive the actual papers that he needed to serve until this past Sunday, the first day they were available.
By the time I intiated the e-mail campaign on Tuesday, he had, according to hos written resposnes oand independent verification form a jail house source, made severa.l trips to the jail and numerous phone calls to Smith on Monday and Tuesday.
I'm sure that he was keenly aware of this being an election year and the huge public disgust with Smith before I e-mailed him on Tuesday.
