NO financial reports filed on time!
I just got off of the phone with Judge Gillette's office.
The official deadline for turning in the legally required reports of campaign contributions and disbursements came and went yesterday without a single, solitary, qualified Camden candidate turning them in.
However, I'm told that there is a five-working-day, penalty-free, grace period. By my reckoning, that makes the de facto deadline without penalty close-of-business next Monday. I'll have them for you next Tuesday.

June 30, is the first day they can be turned in, elected officials and candidates for election have 15days from June 30 to be considered as on time.
I got a peak at Bills document: I will try to remember as best as I can:
$2000- Fairly Cisco
$2000- Wesley Walker
$2000- Luke Daniel
$2000- Jeff Dirkes
$2000- Dr. Chua
$2,300,300- Proceeds from the $100 a plate dinner at Laurel Island.
$18.75- Proceeds from 8 fish frys.
I may have left one or two out, but I think these are correct. If there is an error. I will gladly publish a rebutal and an apology.
Sincerely,
The gals to re-elect our sheriff
So... the candidates have until the close of business on ELECTION DAY to file their finnacial reports of contributions and expenditures!
How convenient!
No, that is not true. The Financial Disclosure Reports were due on June 30th. However, there is a 5 day grace period, therefore making them due no later than July 5th. And, because the 5th is a Saturday, the absolute deadline - without penalty - will be close of business Monday the 8th.
There is another report (Personal Financial Report) that must be filed no later than 15 days after a candidate qualifies to run for office. This report simply discloses ownership interest in property, businesses, etc... I think this is the report that the previous poster was referring to in their post with regards to the 15 day window of time. Keep in mind though that in order to be in compliance, all candidates who will have their name placed on the July 15th Primary ballot have already filed this report. You should be able to contact the Probate Court to get a copy. Candidates who just recently qualified as non-partisan and/or independent candidates must still file this report withtin 15 days of the date that they qualified to run for office.
Rest assured, in order to be in compliance with the Ethics Commission, the Financial Disclosure Reports for all candidates will have to be filed PRIOR to the July 15th primary. And, I am sure that they will make for some interesting reading, provided that the candidates are honest and forthright with regards to their contributors and the amount received.
Just my two cents...
Thanks for your clarifying two cents.
Trust me - I was going to call back up there Tuesday anyway. I figured that the lady at Judge Gilllette's office knew what she was talking about and that the first commenter on this post was either honestly mistaken or a Thuggie agent trying to trick me into not revealing Smith's major contributors before the election.
