Norm Covert is one of the 4 sitting members of the Camden County Board of Assessors who has declined the CCBOC's invitation to resign. On 5/31/2007, Norm and his wife bought .47 acres in Kingsland. Situated on the property was an improvement in the form of a 32' X 80' double wide mobile home. The sales price was $145,000. The 2008 FMV (Fair Market Value) was $145,000.
The 2009 market value is now $72,269. I know the market has fallen off, but I wonder what the comps were in Kingsland that caused a drop in FMV from $145,000 in 2007 to $72,269 in 2009. That's just shy of a 50% decrease in FMV in 2 years. Does a double wide built in 2000 depreciate that quickly?

Mr. Moreno,
Could you in the future use citations to prove your point when posting on your blog. As you have stated on your blog, and Rick Rogers’ blog, that “studies” suggest that moving lower income kids to schools with higher income kids schools improves their scores. Where are the facts?? Please cite the study. And no you do not need to call me nasty names, or say I am a GOB (because I am not). Your blog seems to be filled with links to newspaper articles that you seem to use to support your position, or casts a great light upon you. Also, I do not like being called an “Uninformed Voter” when I voted against the E-SPLOST. I voted no as a shot across the bow of an over spending BOE. YES, I know that one way or another we are going to be hit with this tax. Your high and mighty, greater than thou reasoning just shows your lack of a backbone to take on the BOE. I on the other hand want them to know they are overspending and until they get the spending under control, we will continue to see tax increases. I am sure this post will never see the light of day on your blog. BTW, I have no skin in this game. My last child is a Sr. at CCHS. I am posting it here because your last post on the schools have been buried on your blog. I sure you will have much fluff on Sunday to bury this one as well.
Did the doublewide leave the property?
RE: Citition, etc.
I'll lead you to the waters of knowledge. As to drinking, you're onb you're own. Read carefully. Go back to Ricks blog. In the very first of my comments you referenced, I talk about it being a very interesting article. You will find your citation right there . All of the supporting data for my contentions is right there in that study. It is but one of hundreds. Moreover, all the supporting data one of even moderate intelligence would need to reach those same conclusions independently is readily available on the GA DOE website. Moreover, there is not a school of education in any university in America - including Armstrong Atlamntic State University - which does not teach this as a matter of course. It is well established FACT.
As to your being uninformed, clearly you were. I've read your rantings on TOPIX. The need was largely a CURRENT need, not entirely a a future need as opponents claimed. Responsible voters do not waste their votes firing "shots across the bow." Rather, they exercise due dilligence by finding out the facts -w hcih were readily avaialble on this blog, the BOE site, and the T&G, and casting an informed and responsible vote based upon the demonstrated needs of the community.
As to the prior posts being buried, if you will scroll to the bottom of the page and click on "older posts", they are quite easily retrieved.
P.S.
I was remiss in not pointing out that if, in fact, you were an informed voter, then you were an irresponsible voter. Those are your two choices.
Your property value only goes down if you are on the board of assessors, a friend or relative. Remember Jay, You are in Camden County with the Good Ole Boy System. Check out some of the other "elite" tax payers of Camden with water front property or many acreas of land and see how little they pay, hell even look at ole Bill Smith he doesn't pay squat for what the rest of us pay with less, but we didn't have the prisioners build our houses, we had to buy permits and report it. Damn the luck!
