Tax assessors to enter lions' den tonight!
I just got home and found a message from Doug Vaught on my answering machine. It seems that the Camden County tax assesors have promised to show up and take questions at tonight's taxpayers meeting at J'S English Pub in downtown St. Marys at 6:00 PM. This would be the same tax assessors that reliable sources have told me have today taken down the info on assessments from the website everyone was getting them off of. My guess is that there will be standing room only there tonight. Oh, by thw way, someone asked me tha other day what that two story building was going up across the street from J's Pub. I did not even notice it last week. I mistakenly thought they were talking about the new school. I saw it today, just north of Pickrens. I called W. H. Gross, the builder. Dr. Marvin Jones owns that. There will be three commercial spaces downstairs and three apartments upstairs. Now we know the rest of the story about all that rezoning that took place downtown a while back.

They discussed the new medical clinic Dr. Jones is opening at the St. Marys City Council meeting about a month ago.
Oh, is he going to have a medical clinic downstairs in that building?
According to what City Council said, he is opening a medical clinic and they were discussing the St. Marys Police Dept being able to bring prisoners there for medical treatment instead of taking them all the way to Kingsland.
He must know something that no one else knows. To be building a structure like that in St. Marys right now.
My guess is he leaped out in faith that the Landmar project on the old mill site would come to fruition and he would be in fat city at that location. He's going to need one hell of a lot more Yankees downtown than there are now to support a practice there. Of course, the three apartments and two rented retail spaces will help out on the overhead. My guess is the tenants in the retail spaces will change more often than the renters upstairs will.
