Some facts on school rezoning.
Affected Neighborhoods
From CRES to SMES – Old Jefferson/Pines Apts/Harbor Pines/East side of Martha Drive to credit union (TOTAL = 114 students)
From MLC to CRES – Sugarmill Plantation (north side of Colerain Rd) includes McIntosh/New Savannah/Millers Trace/Mill Creek/Ashton Pines (TOTAL = 177 students)
From SES to MLC – Colerain Oaks (TOTAL = 52 students)
Goals
To balance student populations among elementary schools in the St Marys area
To balance the proportion of free & reduced students among schools
To create capacity for future growth in St Marys schools
To avoid moving students in the middle of the school year when the new St Marys Elementary
School is opened
Conclusion
The attendance zones for our school district are defined in Camden County Schools Policy AD
Proposed changes were presented to the BOE March 5, 2009
As always, a change in policy is published and made available for public review and comment for 30 days prior to a vote by the Board
