Deeply worried sheriff holes up on Cumberland with defense attorney.

In recent days, Bill Smith was spotted ferrying his attorney, Atlanta lawyer Taylor Jones, over to Cumberland Island, ( in a county boat, on county gas, of course)presumably to Ben Jenkin's leasehold for a strategy session in light of his upcoming federal indictmment. Smith and Jones both attended the exclusive Boles School in Jacksonville many years ago. They've been running together ever since. If Mr. Jones' name sounds familiar, it should. He is the same attorney BTW paid $65,000, on January 28th, 1997, drug fund check number 1035, for defending him against charges of corruption at that time. Lord knows what the cost to defend BTW will be this time. Maybe that's the real explanation for why the drug funds are "depleted."

Your moles have screwed you again. It was a private boat owned by a citizen in Woodbine, and they did not go to Jenkins.

Realy? Tell us: who owned the boat?

Did they go to the Greyfield Inn, where BTW has been known to wine and dine guests on the drug funds before?

Anyone can say that my sources are wrong. Give us details.

If they didn't go to Jenkins then they probably went to Martin Gillettes and if it wasn't a county owned boat it was probably none other than Pete Mercers.

Why don't you call and ask him. He is the only one in Woodbine with a big boat. Should not be to hard for your secret moles to find out. Matter of fact, it looks a lot like the CCSO boat.

The boat in question is owned by a Land Surveyor in Woodbine. It is NOT a goverment boat. he was simply taking a friend fishing. Can the Sheriff not have a private life?

probally one the Sheriff signed over to him, when he got the new USS WILLIE

The sheriff can have all of the "private life" he wants after january '09. He can have it even sooner if he would have the decency to resign in disgrace.

However, insofar as Smith has for decades financed his "private" life with public funds - no, he can't have a private life until he is permanetly denied access to more public monies for personal use.

And you really expect us to beleive that he just invited his criminal defense attorney down here from Atlanta for a fishing trip? The only things BTW baits a hook for are blonde bimbos and larcenous voters.

If a private citizen wants to take the Sheriff fishing, can he not? And it was a fishing trip. Why not call the guy and ask him, surely there are not many surveyors in Woodbine. But that would go against your "moles" and you surely can't do that. I love the internet. You can make up whatever you want and no one can prove you wrong. Good job Jay.

Thank you.

So, why not tell us the name of the surveyor and how it is that you are close enough to BTW and the story to know all of these purported facts?

You go Jay. Looks like the buzzards are circling. I wonder if they will be standing on that lame ass limb with BTW when it breaks.

Never mind..

This just in from my network:

"Matt Jordan is the owner of Cumberland Surveying. If I am not mistaken he is on the Woodbine City Council. He and one of Smith's relatives is on the Council with him. If the fellow on the council with him is Hennings, that is the son of Smith's sister.

Smith would shake down any one he can for favors. Fishing, cars, work, etc. Jeff Dirkes supplied Smith a boat up until Dirkes was indicted and then he got it back and sold it. Dirkes use to have to buy things for the High School in Smith's name so it just stands to reason he would impose on others. Jordan does have a boat. But they were on Cumberland also. (Smith and Lawyer). Jordan is a very good and decent fellow who would do a favor if asked. Very good family man. I don't believe he would be all that happy, but he would accomodate Smith. He would be too nice to turn him down. Smith would take advantage of that."

Yeah, a lot of otherwise decent folks have gotten stuck on the BTW tarbaby.

Re "buzzards: I'm surprised they haven't tried to tell us that Jack Bauer was at the helm, BTW had dyed his albino gorilla head black and donned a uniform and a badge as the perfect disguise, and they were well on their way to interdicting a terroist plot when I blew their cover, just like Mrs. Zell did.

The Thuggies remain in deep denial - as they will on July 16th.

Hey don't slam Jack Bauer, he would make a much better Sheriff than the present one at least his acting skills are so much better; but then again so would Barney Fife.
