The Brinko affair is indeed getting nastier by the day!

You can bet that Jim Stein was aware of the deadline and "missed" it on purpose. I'm sure he has known from the outset that Brinko's only chance would be in a real court of law. This just makes the other side look even worse. Strategy.

"Stein said he didn't file the paperwork until Friday morning - a day late - because he was waiting for a response to his request that the City Council appoint someone other than Shanahan to oversee the hearing."

Charlie Smith team ie., Post, Thornhill, Hase, DeLoughy, Trader, etc. view Brinko as a leaky mouth. The root of this entire problem (the cause) that noone is elaborating on is the Gilman Boat House property.

This is NOT a strategy!!! He unintentionally missed the deadline. Because he did'nt fully prepare himself as usual. This makes Stein look pathetic, if anything.

This is really Charlie vs. Jim. Charlie has prevailed in round one. Lets see what the next move will be.

Stein knew that if in fact Brinko submitted to the city's kangaroo court, she would lose. Knowing that her only chance was in a real court, I think that he "missed it" on purpose. The circumstances will put the city in an even worse light before a jury.

I hope Jim Stien eats thier lunch. They are so illiterate at City Hall but look who the City Manager is. His is nothing but a BULLY to all the employees.

Well, you got "illiterate" right but it's actually "Stein" and "theirs."

Only a fool would have allowed any one to appear before Shanahan without first having some decision on who the hearing officer should be. What justification exist for the city manager to ignore the request and the City? This is a wrong as can be and the court of public opinion is going to eat that four in the middle up if they continue to allow this. Keep in mind they are the ones who granted the authority to Shanahan at the council meeting. To fire a department head. It was a done deal.

I understand that Greg "Showboat" Bird will make a big deal at the next council meeting of proposing that the city re-institue an appeals board. He conveniently forgets that he spoke in favor of and voted to abolish the one that existed post-Mahaney and up until 2008.

By the way, the Michael Mahaney who has a letter in todays T&G is a different Mahaney - no kin.

"Showboat" Bird conveniently forgets that he spoke in favor of and voted to abolish the appeals board. If "Showboat" can grandstand in any way, shape or form he will do it. It doesn't take a genius to figure out the T/U or local rag connections.

What the court of public opinion needs to understand is that the CITY MANAGER asked for, the Council granted, and the MANAGER executed.
