O.C.G.A. § 21-2-385.1 (2008)§ 21-2-385.1. Preferential treatment for older and disabled voters
Each elector who is 75 years of age or older or who is disabled and requires assistance in casting an absentee ballot in person at the registrar's office, absentee ballot clerk's office, or other locations as provided for in Code Section 21-2-382, shall, upon request to a designated office employee or other individual, be authorized to vote immediately at the next available voting compartment or booth without having to wait in line if such location utilizes direct recording electronic voting systems or be authorized to go to the head of any line necessary to cast a written absentee ballot. Notice of the provisions of this Code section shall be prominently displayed in the registrar's office or absentee ballot clerk's office.HISTORY: Code 1981, § 21-2-385.1, enacted by Ga. I arrived to the polls at Mary Lee Clark at about 7:05. I was finish voting at 7:35. Jay see if you can beat that time. Ha, Ha

okay, I'm bacj from having done my
small part to prevent this date from becoming another than will "live in infamy" in American history.
The worst psrt was the circling around and aroound for 15 minutes trying to find a place to parl where I could deploy my wheeklchair ramp. The pone doisabled space they have marked where voters park is NOT a "van accessible" space. In fact, so far as I could see, thee is not one on the entire Mary Lee Clark campus.
Clearly, EVERY polling plae should have at least one such space. Martin, are you reading this.
Finally, I spotted two vacant regular paring places side by side. I zipped in, with my right wheels inches inside of the space to my right. I then quickly deployed my ramp into the right hand space. About a month ago, while shopping for a whole house water filter at Lowes, I came across ansd purchased my own orange
traffic cone. Just as I was getting ready to deploy it, two guys in safety vests, whom I assume were MLC custodians assigned to keep an eye on parking, came walking up with another, larger traffic cone. Apparently, I had circled by them enough times that they had figured out my situation. Many thanks.
While I probably could have gone to the head of the line, the law tecnically reads that you have tt be disabled AND requitre assistance voting. I don't, so I waited in line. Took about 20 minutes. Poll workers were very efficient,eeting folks at the door with the necessary form on a small clipboard with a pen.
OBSERVATIONS: I've never failed to vote in an election since I moved here on Aug 3, 1993. The majority of my votes have been cast at Mary Lee Clark. Today, when I voted at about my usual time, thjere were way, way more blacks voting than I've ever observed before.Also, there were many more young, working age people voting between 10:30 and 11:00. I'm guessing many just took the day off to do so at that hour.
I heard one of the poll workers saying that they have heretofore had about 500 people registered to vote in that precinct. She said that as of this election, there are 2,500! Anyone know if those figures are right?
Damn! I just went back and re-read that thing! English really is my first language. I must be running one cup of cofffee low.
Thats why I am telling you Sandy Feller will never win another election in St. Marys. The registered voter number is about accurate. I can't wait until the entire county wide vote count is given. The party pendulum of power will change locally also.
The only way to prevent people from inheriting positions and appointing surrogates is to change the voting blocks. The election dynamics in Camden County will forever be changed after this election.
