The woman is a joke (albeit a repulsive one). She makes her fortune inciting hatred and ignorance. Her most intelligent comment in response to being informed of Canada's "hate laws"? "You guys used to be so cool. You were smokers. You had epic hockey fights. We had half our comedians from Canada. Now you’re all a bunch of girls named Francois." Wow - there's an insightful person.

She wanted to make a buck on her pathetic dog-and-pony show of being the new voice of intolerance and she was informed that the U of O considers remarks such as when she told a 17-year-old Muslim student to “take a camel” (instead of a the flying carpet she has previously suggested Muslims use) for transportation just penny-ante media whoring at the cost of the public peace.

Last night, the organizers themselves decided at 7:50 p.m. to cancel the event and so informed the University's Protection Services staff on site. At that time, a crowd of about one thousand people had peacefully gathered at Marion Hall. No word of violence at all, just a peaceful protest.

Ann Coulter simply chickened out because she knew that she could gain more media hype (money) that way. The decision was entirely hers and the organizations that invited her.
There was no infringement of open discussion here, just another example Coulter's manipulation and avarice. She relies on people like you, Jay, to sell her books.

I rest my case.

I keep trying to think of some good use for this dessicated, miscreant, misanthrope.

Kibbles for an endangered species?

In the interest of having the facts:

The letter reads in part:

We have a great respect for freedom of expression in Canada, as well as on our campus, and view it as a fundamental freedom, as recognized by our Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

I would, however, like to inform you, or perhaps remind you, that our domestic laws, both provincial and federal, delineate freedom of expression (or "free speech") in a manner that is somewhat different than the approach taken in the United States. I therefore encourage you to educate yourself, if need be, as to what is acceptable in Canada and to do so before your planned visit here.

Yes, and then he goes on to threaten her with arrest if she is not PC.

Canadian law is a piss-poor substitute for true free speech.
