Former deputy, fired by Smith, wishes new sheriff and deputies well in T& G letter.

http://www.tribune-georgian.com/articles/2009/01/07/opinion/letters/01letter1.7.txt Whoa, Nellie! Hold the phone! Isn't this the guy who was chairman of the grand jury that found no wrongdoing on the part of Smith, and, in fact, praised his operation of the CCSO? So now we learn that it was because he deemed doing so the Christian thing to do and he wanted to be sure their was no hate left is his pea-picking heart for Ol' Bill? How about his secular, civic duty? Do they not preach that "Render unto Ceasar that which is Ceasar's" passage anymore?

Yes I hear that he was with Tommy when he assumed control of the SO at 0001 hrs. 01/01/09. Probably trying to smooze to get his old job back. This one really is a bottom feeder, just like his dear ole dad!

He did not say in his holier than thou letter to the editor why he was fired in '05. Was it another case of "no reason, just fired him" as Bill Smith was so famous for? Yet after he was fired by this man, when he was to serve on the grand jury, he ended by writing a letter about how wonderful Bill Smith was and he was sure that he had done nothing wrong. Ha. He was just trying to save his wife's job since she was employed by the Sheriff. My guess is that letter was written by someone in the Sheriff's department and signed off by Fred Sutton. Fred's father worked with Bill Smith at the mill and also served with him on the Board of Commissioners. So, this is what I call the good old boy system that was alive and well at the Sheriffs office until Jan. 1, 2009. Hopefully that system is gone from that office, never to return.

The only way to be assured of that is if we who are not part of the problem go to the polls en masse at the next election cycle and drive a stake through the heart of the many-tentacled monster.

I do not believe for one second that a group had approched him to run for sheriff. If anyone did, it was his dear ole dad. What a JOKE.
And why would Bill hire him back to be groomed for sheriff when he was already grooming Proctor at that time.

Is this not the same Fred Sutton who had Bill Smith walking on water in the Tribune-Georgian not so long ago? If so, does he really think everyone is really that stupid?

Apparently, yes!

That letter fwas a self serving fanasy. That buffon would have never been any ones choice for Sheriff. He was a joke then and now.

I wonder if he was floating a trial ballon in front of fellow Thuggies to gauge his chances of being their Great White Hope four years hence?
