Yep, a gift, just as I suspected!

Click on image to enlarge. Here are the impact fees for St. John's County, Florida (St. Augustine.) Compare these rates to the laughably low Camden County rates in the previous post.

This is a SHAME!!! I have just one question about all of this madness.

If the JDA contends that no one is ALLOWED to oversee their operation, they don't have to implement goals for the Director and the Director will not answer to the County Administrator.

Are the County and Municipalities obligated to fund their private enterprise? Can they decide to discontinue funding?

Yes, they absolutely can. But of course, the Quartet, under the leadership of St. David, the patron saint of GOBs, never would.

Mayor Smith seems to be a very astute caretaker of the taxpayers money in Kingsland. If there is a chance of anyone stepping up to the plate and questioning the production of the JDA it will likely be the City of Kingsland.

Jay, How do these people get appointed to the JDA Board? Who are acutally the current board members. I heard last night that the Board basically still has its original board members. The person also stated that they have no intentions of bringing jobs to Camden County. Their focus now is railroad system and mass transit.

I remember reading on your blog about a rail system.

i have acall in now to the county to see just how they are selected and when their term expires. For the record, if I am elected to the BOC and that same crew is still there, I will move to replace every one of them. Moreover, I would push for taking a look at whether or not there is a sufficiently compaelling reason to keep the JDA as opposed to bringing the job back inside of the county goverment, reporting directly to the county administrator.

And by the way, Commissioner Rainer - what in the hell is wrong with having "politics in it." That is clearly what is wrong with it now - the lack of control by people answerable to the will of the voters!
