Another candidate for Camden County Tax Commissioner ?

It has come to me from a reliable source that Pat Smith -yes, the Pat Smith whose late daughter died in a questionable "hunting accident" with then husband, an untouchable relative of Sheriif Bill Smith (no kin) - is seriously testing the waters to help her take a decision on whether or not to run for Camden County Tax Commissioner. Any opinions on how she might fare in a three - way race against the incumbant, Beth Soles, and Mr. Blue?

I would like to put my $.02 in...
If anyone in Camden knows Mrs Pat, then they know she is a fighter and she goes by the book. She has been fighting for the last 6 years to find out the truth regarding her daughters death and knows first hand about the corruption in Camden County. She despises Bill Smith and what he stands for and anyone that follows in his foot steps. She wants the corruption in Camden to stop and if elected, I think she will do her best to rid the corruption in the tax office and make sure every resident is treated equal. Go Mrs Pat!

Time is running out people!!!!!!
If you or you know ANTONE who is tired of the corruption in this county please get out and run for something. There are a lot of qualified people living in this county that could make a HUGH difference in the way things are run here. We have a great start by soon ridding ourselves of the present corrupt sheriff. Lets not stop there. We need to get everyone that is or was involved with Bill Smith out of office and start fresh. If you cant run, then PLEASE support the NON-CORRUPTED candidates that are running! We have a GREAT start, the FEDS are taking care of the sheriff for us. Now lets clean up the rest of the corruption in the county.
CLEAN THE SLATE IN '08!

Her despising Bill Smith is, of course, a big plus with me. I remember she worked for years for the City of St. Marys - water/sewer billing and tax collection, I think. Then something with the county.

Can someone give us an accurate resume'?

I think Pat Smith should run. This will abort the mission to replace the Tax Commissioner with someone from the INSIDE.

If she does run this would be the worst nightmare of BTW, Danny Daniels and Beth Soles. Its very difficult to defend against the truth!!

Pat Smith is a nice person. She worked for the City of St. Marys and they fired her, don't remember the reason, but she sued and won her lawsuit. Then went to work for the County and was fired there, something to do with lying to a law enforcement person, and think there was something handed down by the grand jury on that case. Unclear about the real reason. I realize that she has some resentment towards Mrs. Soles but I personally would love to see her run for the Clerk of Court. That would be the job that could affect the Sheriff. To the person who put their 2 cents worth in, I think you are wrong about corruption in the Tax Office. I feel that is a slap in the face for Brenda Wainright who ran that office for over 20 years and she made sure every resident was treated equal unless it was something that she was unaware of. Actually the primary job of that office is to collect taxes, and sell tags. The property tax is generated in the tax assessors office and tags are sold for the state. The ad valorem taxes on tags are generated by the millage rate that is set by the Board of Commissioners and the value of the car that is set by the State. My question is where does the corruption come in concerning the tax collector? If a resident is treated unequal, then that should be taken to the Tax Commissioner to be handled if it is done by an employee, if it is the cost of property taxes, that should be taken up with the Board of Tax Assessors who determine the value of your property and the Board of Commissioner determine the millage rate.

The points about the differences between the Tax Commissioner and the Tax Assessor's Offices are well taken.

What, exactly,is Danny Daniels doing for the county these days? I've sort of lost track of where they have him squirreled away now.

Last I heard Danny was working for the BOC giving physicals or whatever for the Human Resources Dept. Makes no sense to me, but what does?

If Pat Smith agrees with Beth Soles and Kelvin Blue that the automation linking the Tax Digest to the Tax Collection is FIRST priority once elected then I personally feel she should ENTER the race.

This is the MOST important platform requirement in this race. If we get this as the State has suggested, Camden County will definitely be headed in a bright direction.

I agree that Pat Smith should Run for Tax Commissioner. We surley DO NOT NEED BETH SOLES IN THERE.
YOU GO PAT!!!!!
You have my Vote.

I agree with one of the other comments. Pat Smith would serve best in the Clerk of Court Position, or as a County Commissioner. As County Commissioner she could have a vote on all issues affecting all the county offices. Pat Smith for County Commissioner!!!!!!

Pat Smith for Tax
Commissioner, that's a joke!
She has had several good jobs and has lost them all. There is a reason for her poor work history. She is the only person to blame, its no ones fault but her own. Don't believe everything you hear from her. She is very good at stretching the truth and playing the "Poor Pitiful Pat" ticket. She thinks everyone is out to get her when its the other way around.
The people who really know her know the truth. I believe she now works at Lowes or Home Depot or somewhere. That's the best place for her. It is my understanding she has already had one county job and was fired from that. It takes more than five votes to win!!!

Uh, just a shot in the dark here, but while it's pretty clear that you will not be voting for PAT Smith, you will be voting for BILL Smith, right?

This goes to "thats a joke"!
You sound to me as if you have personally been in a pissing match with Mrs Pat. What did she do...get the best of you? Or maybe it was because she wouldn't turn the cheek when asked to be dishonest in her work. Or maybe she was honest about you and you cant stand the truth? Either way everyone knows Mrs Pat wasn't fired because she couldn't do her job, it was all politics.
