The understating Oracle at Woodbine.

This morning, on the front page of the GTU, Gordon Jackson has a slightly expanded version of his catch-up flash from about 9:30 AM yesterday on Walker's suspension (to be fair, Gordon had been tied up over in Waycross on the case of the murderous 3rd graders). Betwen then and deaeline Firday, Gordon managed to get through to Camden County Commission Chairman Preston Rhodes who is always good for a quote. Here's yesterday's gem: Preston Rhodes, chairman of the Camden County Commission, said he agreed with the decision to place Walker on leave. "There is clearly potential for a conflict there," Rhodes said. "That was the only thing they could have done." No, Mr Rhodes, it is not. "They" - they being none other than Camden County's damned sorry sheriff, Bill Smith - could have and SHOULD have fired his sorry ass within an hour of the conclusion of his testimony under immunity. As if any further proof were needed, here is yet another example of Mr. Rhodes' long-standing performance in office as little more than a wind-testing, vascillating, vacuous, posturing, nincompoop. Is there something in the water in his district that prevents it from producing a better candidate? Come on, someone, step up and run.
