Do you think that perhaps with a per capita annual income of less than $13,500 the "idiots" couldn't afford to quit their jobs, try to sell their homes in a toxic environment and leave?

If your spouse and children were highly likely to contract fatal mesothelioma from a known carcinogenic contaminate in the local enviroment, would you continue to live there or move no matter what your economic status?

You see, conservatives would say move them: liberals would keep them there and set up clinics to treat them and piss and moan about "environmetal injustice and racism" rather than remove them from the danger and solve the problem. The overriding concern of the liberal is to show moral superiority - rationality be damned. They're all about "feelings."

Jay,

I find you response to the first poster to be a bit over the top. Think about it, a town of 12,000 in northwest Montana with toxic dust. Who would buy a house there to let the people who live there move? Would you? I think not. To me it is not a liberal, conservative issue, but one that is fair. Sounds to me like W.R. Grace got off easy. They are a huge company, look them up. Sometime you have to do what is right, and that is what I got from the article. I know your conservative roots may drive you a little too far to the right, but come on, what are they to do. Sometimes I think your fingers are in Drive and you brain is still in Park. Show some compassion dude.

Sure, sue the hell out of W.R. Grace, but in the mean time, MOVE at all costs. Would you put the value of your home above your own health and the health of your spouse and children? Mesothelioma is invariably fatal and a very bad way to go. Hundreds of people walk away from homes in this country every day and let the bank have them for far less compelling reasons. Think first, feel second.
The reasoned application of intelligence invariably does more good in the world than feel-good emotionalism.
