Deloughy qualifies to run for mayor; Feller for Post 4.

3:45 update: In St. Marys, former councilman, Sidney Howell, has qualified to run for Post 6, Gull Weaver's seat. Refresh my memory - was it Weaver who defeated Howell previously?
4:30 update: In St. Marys, Roger Rillo has qualified for Post 4.
5:05 update: Neither Woodbine nor Kingsland had any additional qualifiers today.

Great. Good news. I can't wait to have the opportunity to vote against Deloughy. Some days are just better than others. I had quit watching the news but this is just what I needed to hear.
I must admit this is great politicing on the part of Camden Partnership. DeLoughy for Mayor and a feeler (Keith Post) for his seat.
Okay Jay, when are you going to qualify for Mayor. Then I will know all will be well in OUR city.

No, Weaver defeated Doug Vaught. Didn't Howell had been a councilman.

That's right. So, was Howell one of the ones that got the boot because of the forced annexation?
I'vew witness 8 St. Marys elections now and my recollections are a little fuzzy.
If you were not here, Howell was installed by Rev. Jim over at Agape on an anti-demon rum ticket.
He'll probably run an anti-damned outsider, anti-Camden Partnership, anti-TAD, anti-tax campaign this time around. His disdain for damned outsiders is notorious, growing, and pathological.
Re, my pwder, I still have a few good shots left!
Thus far Howell is the best candidate in the Post 6 race.
Okay, I'll bite: who would that "certain person" be?

"Dear Mayor Eskridge and Council Members:
As you know, I have been speaking with each of you individually regarding the possible relocation of the airport. I respectfully request that this issue be put on the agenda for the meeting of Monday, April 14, and that I be allowed to address you formally on this issue. I represent the Sea Island Company, the Camden Partnership, and myself as a citizen and business owner in the City of St. Marys. We will be asking for a full council decision on the issue of the airport relocation. I look forward to meeting with you."

Present Were: Senior Vice President and General Counsel Jim Gilbert, Sea Island Co.
Mayor Rowland Eskridge
Councilmember Bill DeLoughy
City Manager Bill Shanahan
Jim Gilbert referred to Site 1 as "useless land" due to the costs of wetlands mitigation etc. Sea Island plans a huge development nearby and an airport would be a nice amenity.
Gilbert: The mayor and a consultant you all hired from Reynolds, Smith and Hills came to see me. I didn’t even know why they were coming. But they were real nice. Can I give you some background?
Rowland Eskridge: Please, we would love to have some.
Jim Gilbert: I was there on that meeting. There was a nice lady named Hase.
Rowland Eskridge: Deborah Hase.
Bill Shanahan: She was the mayor at that time.
Gilbert: "So I called Charlie who had become a partner of my law firm and said please find out what’s going on and see if there was an interest in it because we need to make some decisions because we’re going to be filing a revision to our planned development. We don’t know what to really say about that property. So then, he’s been involved in it. His main involvement is with the Camden Partnership, which is like former base commanders, military people and maybe Sheila McNeil."
I would suggest, having reviewed page after page of files and documentation, that anyone associated with the Camden Partnership is redolent of the stench of self-interest when it comes to the airport relocation to Site 1.
No matter what one's opinion of this issue is, do we really want a Council that panders to the desires of one specific group at the expense (figuratively and literally) of the community? This single issue has divided St. Marys for years, diverted attention from more pressing matters, been cloaked in secrecy and shoddy ethics and has cost untold amounts in terms of time, studies, legal wrangling and more. Enough is enough.
I would certainly not damn anyone by association but the Camden Partnership has been so fixated on the airport relocation (there's a great deal of money to be made by favored lawyers and realtors should they succeed) that I am leery of electing anyone who supports their endeavors.
Deloughy is so full of himself that he can't begin to realize that we know he is just a puppet for a special interest group. But we will be able to prove him wrong. We realize this is just a move by Camden Partnership to run the business of St. Marys. TAD didn't fly and neither will this. I am so glad we have this opportuntiy to send his smart as+ packing. When it comes to basics we see much clearer than this jerk will ever realize. Just another know it all with no solution and an agenda of special interest group.
Mr. Deloughy's insistence on being referred to a "Mayor pro tem Deloughy" rather than "Councilman Deloughy" says a lot about his attitude.
I'm sure that Jay can explain better than I why a person cannot be mayor pro tem in a meeting conducted by the mayor.
