The Perry Case.

Rick Rogers has brought the Perry case back to the fore on TOPIX after covering it extensively on his own blog some time ago. http://www.topix.com/forum/city/kingsland-ga/TTKBID945UFS2ROBL I would hope that those of you who are not familiar with this case, as well as those who only thought they were, to read the comments on TOPIX. Most importantly, you will find the link to the transcript of the trial which Rick has on his blog. With all of the wrongly convicted people exonerated and released by DNA evidence over the last few years, it is undeniable that there are hundreds of innocent people in jail. Given that his persecution (spelling intentional) by Bill Smith for Smith's political benefit is what put him in jail - not any evidence, and given Bill Smith's personal role in destroying and losing all of the potentially exculaptory physical evidence, and given that we now know that Bill Smith was and is a completely amoral individual, and after having read the transcript, I think is not only entirely possible but even highly likely that Dennis Perry is innocent of the murders of which he was convicted.

If ever someone deserved a retrial its this guy. I can't believe this actually happened. It sounds so fictious.

Alas, it's all ture. Smiht lost the glasses (sent them off to America's Most Wanted" where they were lost)with the hairs that could have now been DNA tested. Even more incredibly, even as a technicina was on the way from the GBI to collect blood evidence from the vestibule of the church to try to find a blood type other than the victims, Smith had trustees go t the church and clean up all of the blood evidence to buy black votes. Hiring Bundy to "solve" the case was all about shoring up the digruntled black vote in an election year.

Seems like Hill has taken a page out of the Smith playbook. Hopefully this Perry will get justice. Was'nt Judge Williams a intricate part of him being convicted? If so, she still in that position, may not be so good for Perry.

Jay...There was DNA done on the hairs which excluded Dennis 100%. The hairs were the ONLY evidence that wasn't lost. Thank God they removed them before Smith sent the glasses off.

Thanks for that clarification.

If memeory serves me, didn't Dennis Perry have 20/20 vision, did not wear glasses, and the glasses they found had very strong lenses?

As a matter of fact..yes..Dennis had an eye exam after he was picked up and his eyesight was very good..didn't need glasses. The glasses that were found at the scene had a really strong prescription..they were like what you'd call "coke bottle lenses". The doctor that examined his eyes and also the forensic expert that did the DNA were supposed to be witnesses at the trial..BUT they were never called to the witness stand! Why? I don't have a clue. Amanda Williams said the DNA wasn't important!!!!
