Oh, no! Not heathern belly dancing and demon rum together! Not in quaint St. Marys!

http://www.jacksonville.com/tu-online/stories/072308/geo_308099758.shtml Given her history of waging war against liquor license holders in her ongoing war to ram her hard-shell Puritanism down evey sane secularist's throat, this sounds like a perfect post-campaign project for Mary Ann. Why is the city administration so damned whimpy in the face of these busy-bodies?

According to someone on Topix, I think on Sunday, someone stated that there would news in todays T & G that would rock our world. Do you supposed Belly Dancing is the news they were talking about? LOL

No, I'm gueesing it was supposed to be the conty's announcement of a proposed millage rate increase.
Amazingly, the county manager only realized this need after last weeks election!;-)

This is indicative of what is wrong with our society today. one or two people complain about something that "they" believe to be offensive and by GOD, it should be offensive to everyone with any moral standing. If we continue to allow this type of behaviour from alledged purists or moralists, then there will be no place in our culture for GOD or the constitution. "They" have aleardy removed GOD from our courts and schools, now "they" don't even want us to watch a particular type of dance!! If they don't want to see the show then don't go watch! Don't stop everyone else because you do not think it's right, that in itself is wrong. To damn many busy bodies trying to change society to their warped sense of right and wrong!
Or on the other hand, it could just be a Muslim thing! Right, Muhammed?!

Oh, come on! The officer was just following orders from Max Tinsley.
Bear in mind that belly dancing hails from Muslim countries.

I do agree that the the religious, wingnut, busybodies need to stay the hell out of other people's lives, though.

Jay, not to correct you, but I believe that the article said Max Tinsley was on vacation! And yes, again, you are right. "They" are the ones who should be loaded up and sent to Iraq. Let them try to enlighten those idiots about how things should be done!

I stand corrected, after re-reading the article, you are right. Max directed the action even though he was "out of town". my most humble apologies. I promise to try and do better!

I thought the taxes were frozen. Didn't we vote to freeze the taxes.

Jay Moreno said...

Well, yes and no. By your question, you've made it clear that you don't understand what actually happened.

First of all, county taxes were not effected. Secondly, in the cities, only residential properties, specifically owner occupied residential properties, were effected. The assessed valuation upon which the millage rate can be applied is frozen at whatever it was on the day the legislation went into effect, or the day of purchase fpr those buying residences subsequent ot he effective date.

Note that the appraised values will continue to be raised periodically on the tax records. Only the assessed value as previously described is "frozen."

A millage rate increase against the said frozen value will of course produce a tax increase.

Rental properties and commercial properties do not benefit from the "freeze." That is to say, the milage rate for them is applied to
whatever the current valuation is.

I think you got the city/county reversed. The logic is correct but I think you need to reverse

Jay Moreno said...

Mea culpa. You are exactly right: it was the county valuations that were frozen, not the cities.

If the city continues to follow the orders of Max Tinsley, the city will continue to be served with lawsuits. This includes current and former employees and citizens. I know of more than one former employee who has a lawsuit pending. The city has already been served and Max is right smack in the middle of all of it.

I have not figured out why a city of just 14,000 residents needs a city manager and an assistant city manager.

They don't have to pay for the salaries (Max Tinsley, especially) it comes out of the pockets of the taxpayers. Another gross misuse of taxpayers money. On top of all of this they have the nerve to increase their salaries.

Max Tinsley, the proud fatherinlaw of non other than David Mills aka Black Copters, WOW what a crazy place we live in.

Jay Moreno said...

Indeed!

The action on the part of Tinsley is completely ridiculous! Exotic entertainment indeed. Don't know what sort of belly dancing he's ever viewed, but this is a cultural event and not meant to be a turn on, for goodness sake.

What can we do as citizens to help this business owner?

This city has GOT TO find a way to get rid of Max Tinsley. He is a trouble maker and if Bill Shanahan stops to fast it will break Max's neck because his head is SOOOOOO far up Bill's a$$. Any one that has real dirt on Max needs to turn it over to an attorney and let everyone know who. Max is RUINING St. Marys.

other than this bell dancing sillines, can you give me other examples of his purported misfeasance in office? Not doubting you - I just don't know what they are.

How about "Other than this belly dancing silliness"? Missed my nap today.

There are violations of city policy (I can not elaborate any more at this time) Questions about wheather all information on his resume is accurate. I have heard that there are other things that need to be checked into, and until there are I can not elaborate on them or he could cover his tracks and get himself out of someones crosshairs. I am just looking for anyone that can confirm or add to ammo against him so this community can move forward. Because as long as he is in his current position this community is stalled or going backwards.
