Well said, T&G! Well said indeed!

http://www.tribune-georgian.com/edition/edition/?haspdf=1 When you get there, arrow over to page 4-A for the excellent editorial and my letter. Use arrows at top of page. Here's my favorite excerpt from the editorial. "The ordinance will have to be amended before the fees can be suspended or refunded, and that will require a public hearing. We certainly hope citizens will make their voices heard when that time comes. So, let’s also ponder for a moment the cozy relationship between commissioner Sears and the local construction industry that lobbied for the suspension of these impact fees. She worked at a local construction company until a couple of months ago — in fact, she quit that job just after talks of suspending the fees began. It’s the same pattern of behavior that voters witnessed when she insisted on voting matters regarding on the sheriff’s department while she worked there. One step forward and two steps back."

Feel free to use my poll (upper right hand corner) to send Commissioner Sears a message today! Then send all four a message by showing up at the next CCBOC meeting on 2/16!

Jay,

You have to pay these days to read it online. (if you don't already subscribe) I will pick up an issue at lunchtime.

Oops. My mistake. I won't do that again. It's a shame they can no longer be linked to.

Free content is becoming a thing of the past and Rupert Murdoch is leading the charge. I think if you'll bother to read the fine print, you are violating copyright by reprinting any portion of this or any other legitimate publication.

I am just thankful that Alan NeSmith is leaving a blessing on the people of Camden County. If it were not for him and others I can only imagine the extent these people would go.

A old gentlemen from St. Marys came up to my able at Aunt B's. He asked me my thoughts on "David and that bunch freezing and refunding impact fees"

I shared when you have been in the game as long as David there comes a time that you can't get out or you will possibly be exposed. Hence the reason for extending the olive branch for those you are most initimate with ie., developers.

But other than that David is a really nice fellow.

I agree, but it is way past time for someone to put him into full and permanent retirement. Unfortunately, at his age, his horizon is way to close to really see what needs to be done for the future. He is way to beholdin' and loyal to the good ol' boys. He never accepts a vote that does not go his way. Sooner or later, he will revisit the issue and try to resverse the decision - just as he is trying to do with impact fees. Keep an eye on the jail expansion.

Someone told me to come read this thread. Jay you are ABSOLUTELY correct. But I don't think Rainer could lose a election in Camden County under the current system. If he qualifies he will win! Did you notice the ad in Fridays paper. Although Camden County now has a board of elections the final count remains the responsibility of the supervisor of elections. This is unacceptable. The board of elections should have sole authority. There is no longer a need for the Probate Judge to also be the Supervisor of Elections.
