Just an observation - or two.

I just checked the Camden Watchdogs Group's site to see if they had yet expressed an opinion on the hare-brained scheme to suspend and refund county impact fees. They have not. I would note that some of the leadership of the organization are invovled in the real estate business, in one way or another. Hopefully, though, they will show up and voice opposition at the public hearing next Tuesday. Secondly, the acknowledged founding fathers of the organization include Rindy and Sidney Howell,Tom Cyphers,Roger Rillo, Winston Barlow, and Bert Guy. All but two have subsequently run for office or plan to run for office. Rumor has it that Guy may run in the future. Just an observation.

Hence the reason that the Watchdog Group will NOT participate as they should in this viable conversation.

Sad........

I've heard the same about the above mentioned names. So maybe the only purpose of the organization is to produce candidates

There is no denying that they have done a lot of good. However, if someone had the time or inclination - which I don't - to go way back in this blog's archives, you will find where I predicted at the outset that some were in it to get their political bona fides, in addition to doing good.

I, too, doubt that they will enter the fray on this impact fee issue.

Interesting. I was active, time permitting, and it was to be a group that would monitor local goverments to protect the tax payers, reduce spending and keep on the issue of being involved. The dog seems to have no bark or teeth. The developers seem to have a hands up on us tax payers and the Watchdog is just watching.

Bert Guy was interested because he was the one who found out the tax rape was published and called it to the attention of every one. But for Bert finding the web site and pushing it the public would never have been aware of the extent of the problem and how to appeal. That was Bert's intention.

Undoubtly the other members had a agenda outside of Berts. It really makes one wonder. I ask someone who joined their organization why they are'nt responding and she replied she thought they would. Because these are the type of issues the organizaton was organize to address.

Winston seems to spend alot of time in Glynn County these days. Maybe they have all receive what they wanted. I hope this is'nt true. Because as previously stated this situation needs LOTS of exposure.
