FLASH: Double homicide in Camden, but where in the world is Willie?

This just in from my main mole: Just last night, there was an apparent double homicide in Mush Bluff. Early reports indicate that one Tye Watkins may have killed both of his parents in their home, possibly shooting his father 3 times and his mother twice. Where is Big Thug Willie? Hiding out in Charleston, of course. When finally reached in Charleston by his crack staff, did he rush back down to Camden County? Of course not: he told his top Thuggies to immediately turn this pre-July primary hot potato over to the GBI! Clearly his personal, political considerations took precedence over doing the job he is paid to do. Does anyone have a clue as to why the GBI would be called in on this particular apparent domestic homicide? UPDATE: 1615 HRS: It's now on the Channel 4 website: http://www.news4jax.com/news4georgia/16160730/detail.html It is still not obvious to me why they needed the GBI? After all, we do have the famous Inspector Bundy. Given what he can do with a cold case, this should have been a snap. Take a look at our low mileage, Crime Scene Unit van at top of post.
Given that it has probably only been used to haul steaks, grouper and tiki torches to a barbecue or two, it should still have a pretty good resale value. No sense continuing to eat the depreciation, insurance and fuel on it if we are going to turn every case over to the GBI, even when the perp turns himself in with a full confession.
Update; 05/06/08 @0808 HRS:

Main mole: Sorry I missed your communique. I was "indisposed" at the time.

probably for the same reason that the KPD turned the murder case from the Ramada Inn over to them.

Okay, so what would that reason be.

Do both departments not have detectives?

Was the suspect a cop?

I don't get it: please enlighten me more.

This is very common. Go way back to th edouble killing at the pawn shop in Kingsland years ago. This is one of the purposes of the GBI.

Okay, so now we know that it is very common. I'll ask again: WHY?

Are all of ther detectives at the CCSO, The KPD and the SMPD so patently incompetent that they cannot investigate a homicide? I mean, is that so generally accepted that all three departments automatically punt to the GBI?

If so, why the hell are we maintaining detectives? Just take a small portion of their former salaries and transportation expenses and put the GBI on retainer for all detective work. It would be a damned sight more economical.

BTW has always seized the opportunity to be in front of the cameras whenever there has been a tragedy in this county. The reason you will not see him in the initial reports of these murders is because he was in Charleston. This is where he stays and trys to operate a sheriff's department. He will probably hold another news conference when he gets back to announce that he has done a through investigation with the GBI and will announce that he has found the killer. Just hope someone tells him that the killer was waiting there when the deputies arrived. I know his die-hard supporters think that it is alright that he spends 87% of his time outside of this county, BUT I DISAGREE. IF HE WANTS TO BE GONE, THEN RETIRE AND LEAVE. After all, he is approaching 72 years of age. Guess he can't afford the VIAGRA if he loses his benefits. I plan to help him make the move out of the Sheriff's office if the Feds don't beat me to it.

you just showed you ignorance jay.

Let's see: a 22 year old shoots and kills his parents inside their home; he then calls 911. confesses, and says he'll be awaiitn officers on the curb; officers arrive, find him on the curb, find the parents dead, right where he said they would be; neither the perpetrator or his dead parents were cops or elected officilas; but, nonetheless, the CCSO turns the investigation over to the GBI.

Okay, genius, tell me how I'm showing my ignorance.

I'll tell you how, Jay. You are talking about the sheriff that can walk on water for these hypocrites. I have lived her 44 years and I have never been as stupid and close-minded as some of the people that post here. Bill Smith can do no wrong. However, He(BTW, Willie, Bill, John Holmes Smith, or whatever he goes by) told his office to get the GBI on this an he would try to be back tomorrow, as in Tuesday. It's okay for BTW to be gone all the time, steal, lie, cheat, use his office and the taxpayers money for his own persoanl gain, But you Jay Moreno, better not open your mouth each time he screws up. You know you are an outsider and can't talk about BTW. To hell with Willie.

Jay,
The following is from the GBI website:
"The Investigative Division, under the direction of the Deputy Director for Investigations, is the largest division of the GBI with 400 employees, working in Regional Offices, Regional Drug Enforcement Offices and other work units that provide specialized services in criminal investigations. Special agents from the Investigative Division respond to requests for assistance from local law enforcement officials to investigate major crimes such as: homicide, rape, child abuse, armed robbery, fraud and other felonies. Drug investigations can be initiated without request."

SWAG: Maybe Bundy was in Charleston with BTW or maybe he's under investigation leaving CCSO without an investigator.

yeah, I read that G.B.I. site as well. No doubt they can and will come in when they are asked to. My question is: if they have to on such an open and shut case, why the hell do we pay CCCSO detectives and maintian a crime scene unit (van)?

You may be on to something about Bundy being, shall we say, indisposed.

By the way, I'm not that hip: what does "SWAG" stand for?

Yeah, I keep forgetting that we "damned outsiders" are not cleared to opine on BTW.

BTW gave that van to the search and rescue about 2 years ago, I think the current CSI flunky got a new Tahoe, but it seems like to me that with all the educated talent BTW has, there would be at least one who could process a crime scene

SWAG Silly Wild Ass Guess

Jay Moreno said...

But of course - the old "Silly Wild Ass Guess" cliche'. What was I thinking?

Anonymous said...

kingsland did not turn the ramada investigation over to the state. in fact the primary suspect was picked up by u.s.marshals in south florida on active KPD warrants

Now wasn't ole William Can'tell a great spokesman for the sheriff's department??? Held his headdown looking at the ground, not the camera, while he mummered so bad I could not understand him. What another winner the sheriff has onboard.

I just watched the Channel 4 video.

Is Simper Fido sporting a Yassir Arafat beard, or just forgot to shave over the weekend?

Anonymous said...

Super fly or Simple fido grew that Sandy Feller Goat beard so he could steal Willies women while he's in Charleston

Any woman who would lay down with either of those bozos is a complete and total moron and would probably be on his payroll.

I know this is late in posting, but I can tell you why SMPD calls GBI out on big homicides: we can't afford the forensic equipment. The city council won't approve people to go to blood spatter analysis training, or crime scene reconstruction training, or any number of in-depth homicide investigation classes. Our detectives do a great job at narcotics interdiction, solving property crimes, rapes, etc. but they aren't given the resources to process large homicide scenes on their own. However, there seems to be a significant difference between SMPD and CCSO: SMPD asks for GBI's help in processing the scene, but by and large, the actual investigation is done by our detectives.

Take that as you will, I suppose.
